color inspiration for a stocking

I am being inspired by color.
.
It all started with my sister wanting a new flower for this handbag that I made her.  Her other flower? = droopy.  So she requested anna's fabric flower in colors that would go with her handbag.
n

So I got my fabrics out and became enamored with the colors --> vivacious pink, coal black & snow white. Seeing the flower completed, I wondered what I could crochet with these same gorgeous colors....

...and came up with a very non-traditional Christmas stocking.

The grannyy square is from:

I laid the blocks out to form a nice stocking shape and btw--- I'm not sure the proper way in adhering the granny squares together before seaming them as a stocking -- but the safety pins worked well.

And although I do not like it when stores etc. cannon-ball straight-away into Christmas and mindlessly ignore Thanksgiving-- I am realistic enough to know that if I don't get started on this stuff now, I'll be running around like a lunatic and trying to get all of my projects done ( read= not a pretty sight.)
n

Now I have to think of clever ways in finagling my husband into decorating our Christmas tree in this color scheme...

Ha.
f
I know that will never happen.

MARVLEOUS colors!!! I had seen a similar (or perhaps the same) layout of a Christmas stocking in last year's Crochet Today, and I didn't much care for it in traditional colors. But you've definitely given it a wonderful update, and now I'm tempted to make one!

The flower is gorgeous too. I love the way the black and pink pop with each other.

Hi Dawn! BEAUTIFUL work!!! LOVE the colors!.. I did recently make a granny square stocking in purples, and loved how it came out, but couldn't post it because it's a surprise for someone else who might see it! However, mine was done in basic squares, and I DO really like the hexagons! VERY pretty! ~tina

I love it!!! I've made a few stockings with the hexagons this year but all in traditional Christmas colors. I would love a pink one for my girls but hubby only likes to have Christmas colors up at Christmas

i'm not a pink person, but your stocking really works for me !

beautiful piecing Dawn - your block work is immaculate.

And the tree, I'd work on stealth - thats how our tree WILL end up in red and turquoise ;)

I've really got to track down a copy of that motif book - it looks fantatstic as a reference tool.

Hope you have a wonderful week !

Okay, that is really funny because last summer I made the cute granny hex tote bag after seeing it on your site, and my friend wants one, and I have been thinking I would make her one in black, pink and white... exactly like your stocking here! When I saw this today I was just dying of the cuteness!
