tennis, anyone?
Who knew that one could get tennis elbow from something non-related to tennis!?
Well, I did. Get it, that is.
And it has put me out of commission for many, many loooooong weeks. And because it's a painful condition from repetitive motions of the wrist & arm ---- let's just guess what motion plays heavily into knitting...or even crocheting?
Yup. Repetitive motions of the wrist & arm.
In spite of all of that (and just let me tell you --- going w/o knitting or crocheting for weeks is one of the most painful things e.v.e.r.!) I did manage to finish these lovely socks from here.
Do I love knitting for the beautiful motion of yarn & needles -- or the vibrant, yummy & gorgeous colors that come out once the project is complete?...
...ehhhh.
It's a definite toss-up.

Beautiful colorful socks!!!
Good luck and take care!
Greetings.:)
well, let me tell you that this summer that pain happened to me too. internet says we should put ice on it and immobilize the wrist&arm and take a long break from any movement of them. I couldn't do that, that is why i used only some natural unguents and it seems it worked. if you find there in your country, use some unguents with Tamus communis (looks like that: http://www.plant-world-seeds.com/store/view_seed_item/2958?gclid=CMK3jZji0bkCFcm23godLkoAFQ) and Arnica montana and Devil's claw (looks like this: http://www.life-care.com/Interfaces/Eshop/ItemDetailed.aspx?itemID=12610). Try to find them.
Get well soon!
Great socks! I love them, especially the colour :)
Oh Dawn! I'm so very sorry to hear that you are having problems in your elbow(s). Been there, done that earlier this year and so really do understand the pain and the frustration you are feeling. I messed my elbow up back in January and pretty much didn't crochet again until July! But I started slowly again and it's okay. When I feel some pain I stop. I hope you are pain free soon!
Hi Dawn! Seems like lot of us crocheters are having this problem. I have slowed down a bit because of similar issues. Of course it is more painful to be not able to use your hooks and needles. The socks are beautiful.
Gorgeous colors! I hope you heal quickly!
I feel your pain! I sleep with wrist braces on every single night so that I can still knit and crochet during the day.
I even had "ironer's elbow" once, that one took a couple of weeks to get over and it hurt so much I couldn't even hold a pencil properly.
The things we suffer for our knitting & crocheting!
Sorry to hear about the tennis elbow - I too know what it's like. I've struggled with tennis elbow in both my elbows over the last couple of years and I'm sure it's caused by crochet.
The only way I've found to improve things is a complete break from crochet for several months. As I try to get back to a bit of crochet, I find some of the exercises on this web page useful - http://www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm
Good luck - love the socks too!
Cute, bright and warm socks :)
Hugs,
Tatyana
That's terrible, but your socks are lovely! How can you prevent this? My elbow tells me that I have to be carefull...
I did wonder if you were OK as you hadn't posted for SO long - I check regularly to see if there has been any activity.
Pleased to here that you're back in action!
