The intensity of the colors in a marigold are bold, vibrant & yes -- intense.
.
I found those same intense colors in Patons Angora Bamboo yarn. Vibrant colors, but oh, my! what truly took my breath away was the ultra-softness of this yarn.
The pattern for this marigold brooch is actually my crocheted peony brooch from here.
Changing it up a bit -- I made it a different color with no embellishment sewn in the middle & crocheted the leaves instead of making them out of fabric.
The leaves are from Nicky Epstein's book:
How pretty.
ReplyDeleteI just love the brooch. Lucky sister, so thoughtful of you.
ReplyDeleteSweet and pretty sister gift!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, and love. I saw this yarn today at my LYS. Now that I know it is a dream, I might have to pick up some. Beautiful brooch for you sister-luckily we are blessed with sisters with great taste.
ReplyDeleteJust very sweet, this broche! I copied your description of last year. Did not remember having seen it before.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful,Dawn! Great work :)
ReplyDeleteI love Marigolds a lot, they are such charming and lovely flowers and so is your brooch. It has the same simple elegance mixed with overwhelming generosity as the real ones. I love how they selfseed where they like to, how they grow even in the poorest soil, how they sparkle with their bright colours. Some flowers big and joyful, some small and modesty, but always enchanting my heart. Your brooch would look great now in autumn on a tweed jacket, I could enivsage it so beautifully. Your sister will surely be very lucky for having such a talented sister.
ReplyDeleteWith my very best wishes,
Suzi
