But something is coming up next month and it involves making a quilt. Our son will be celebrating his 9th birthday. And he has 2 loves. 1) planes and 2) baseball.
That's why I couldn't believe when I found this wonderful piece of fabric. I could not have designed a better piece for him.
So I cut vintage airplane blocks.
And funky baseball blocks.
And will put it all together for one fun quilt. I did find a pattern in a quilting magazine, but *ugh* it involves a tremendous amount of geometry in piecing these blocks. Confusing, confusing geometry. I think I seem to black out, or maybe it's more of a chronic white noise that I hear in my head when faced with piecing a 3 7/8 in. block with a 6 1/2 in. block and adding a 3 1/2 in. border........
So, I am left asking my husband (who happens to be a whiz at math--phewwww!) to help with the rudimentary procedures of trying to get this thing pieced properly.
And yup, he is soooooooo looking forward to that!
He's going to be one happy guy when this is done. Good luck with the math...arrrg!
ReplyDeleteHe is going to love it. I hate it when patterns call for all of that.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see it finished - your son will love it!!!! Good luck - I'll be waiting impatiently to see it.

That fabric is great! I should get some. I just finished an airport panel quilt for my soon to be born grandson. His parents are both pilots. I'm going to post it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat fabric looks perfect for a 9-year old boy. It's nice when you can find just the right fabric for someone, and it will be a change to work on something different. I'm sure he will love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun fabrics!! (we've gone through the dinosaur phase, the Power Ranger phase, the baseball, football and soccer phases, the electic guitar and drums phase, and now we're onto the dirtbike phase of fabrics .... and yes, with ALOT of searching I managed to find the corresponding fabrics for the "interest of the month" to make a quilt --- which took too long .... the phase was over and gone by the time the quilt was finished .... so I resorted to boxers or a pillow case!) --- BUT !! I have much more faith in your "get it done on time" abilities than I do mine and I"m absolutely sure that is gonna be one heck of a quilt to make a 9 year old boy HUG HIS MOM !!(not in front of the guys, of course...)
